The History of AIO Writing

We’re making history with the term AIO writing and what it means–and it’s quite likely you’ll be a part of it, if you’re in SEO at all.

This January, after ChatGPT created huge momentum prompting me to discover Content at Scale, I realized Justin McGill had built the only tool out there that allows SEO content marketers to fully replace the human baseline for generalized blog and long-form search optimized content.

How We Came Up with the Term AIO

It was a Saturday morning. A couple days ago, I’d just accepted the VP role at Content at Scale, ready to start the very next Monday.

I was in Sedona, Arizona that morning with my husband, celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary. But I couldn’t turn my brain off.

The previous day, I’d been Slacking our customer success team member, John Pratt (also a good friend of mine and a 6-year student of every course I’ve taught). We knew, beyond a doubt, that the discovery I’d made of Content at Scale would change everything. It was the first tool that wrote a solid base of high-quality, true long-form content.

Together, we were stretching our brains, generating a list of at least 25 terms that could help us define what it meant to optimize AI content written for search engines.

I sent the top two terms to Justin – AI Wordsmith, and AI Word Stylist. I knew we weren’t there yet. Justin proposed Optimize, and the acronym came to life.

Literally, over one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had in my life (a vegan restaurant in Sedona at the foot of the canyons, Indian Garden Cafe) – it clicked. AIO. This would be the term for the writers, strategists, even managers around the content now generated by AI, and optimized from there.

By the way, the breakfast was that good – picture for proof.

Forever etched in my brain from this moment are two things:

  • That amazing Indian Garden Cafe breakfast. 🤤
  • The knowledge that AIO writing will replace SEO writing one day soon.

The Old Process to Develop Quality SEO Content with a Human Writer
