AIO content should replace your human-only SEO content—and fast.
Human-only, manual SEO content just became less effective, more costly, and less efficient than AIO content.
What Is AIO?
- “AIO” refers to Artificial Intelligence Optimization, or the process of making AI content better with an expert human trained in optimizing the content AI puts out.
- “AIO content” is the process of using AI (artificial intelligence) to produce content 5-10x faster than a human, but using a human to optimize and edit it properly for both humans and content goals.
- An “AIO writer” is a unique blend of both AI writer tool and human; the AIO human writer understands how to use a tool like Content at Scale, and optimizes the content produced so it is informative, relevant, accurate, and compelling.
We can now 3x our time at one-third of the cost involved in SEO content, by now appropriately giving our writers and teams a baseline of AI. GPT-3, ChatGPT, and Jasper changed the game for us, creating an entry point for every type of content—and now, the long-form SEO blog first draft can be wholly baked with AI.
The History of AIO Writing
We’re making history with the term AIO writing and what it means–and it’s quite likely you’ll be a part of it, if you’re in SEO at all.
This January, after ChatGPT created huge momentum prompting me to discover Content at Scale, I realized Justin McGill had built the only tool out there that allows SEO content marketers to fully replace the human baseline for generalized blog and long-form search optimized content.
Reluctantly but with excitement, I introduced Content at Scale into my internal process.
The secret to my production of more than eight books a year and 1,000s of blogs and articles, is not me writing every word. It’s a writer trained on my voice, style, and even my expertise, who listens to my ideas and brainwaves and turns them into words. That’s Alyssa.
I gave Alyssa a keyword and topic to write; except for the first time in her life, we’d use Content at Scale to write the base of the piece rather than Alyssa spending days to flesh out something useful and SEO-friendly. The keyword: best AI tool for blogging. The goal of the piece would be to get inbound traffic.
This is the very first post my writer and I created with Content at Scale; and best of all—she had it done in a few hours, cutting her work from 7 hours spread across a week into 2 hours in one day. 🤯
The baseline we were able to get from Content at Scale was so good, all we had to do was edit and make it better, adding our tone, style, story, images and screenshots, and CTAs.
I examined the new process, and talked to my writer. We landed on a new pay scale that I’m now implementing in my team, and in the team here at Content at Scale as we onboard writers and train them on the use of our tool for our own content. You’ll see that model right here in this blog. Enter AIO writing. SEO writers can now ‘farm out’ the heaviest part of their work to the AI, and simply optimize from there.
How We Came Up with the Term AIO
It was a Saturday morning. A couple days ago, I’d just accepted the VP role at Content at Scale, ready to start the very next Monday.
I was in Sedona, Arizona that morning with my husband, celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary. But I couldn’t turn my brain off.
The previous day, I’d been Slacking our customer success team member, John Pratt (also a good friend of mine and a 6-year student of every course I’ve taught). We knew, beyond a doubt, that the discovery I’d made of Content at Scale would change everything. It was the first tool that wrote a solid base of high-quality, true long-form content.
Together, we were stretching our brains, generating a list of at least 25 terms that could help us define what it meant to optimize AI content written for search engines.
I sent the top two terms to Justin – AI Wordsmith, and AI Word Stylist. I knew we weren’t there yet. Justin proposed Optimize, and the acronym came to life.
Literally, over one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had in my life (a vegan restaurant in Sedona at the foot of the canyons, Indian Garden Cafe) – it clicked. AIO. This would be the term for the writers, strategists, even managers around the content now generated by AI, and optimized from there.
By the way, the breakfast was that good – picture for proof.
Forever etched in my brain from this moment are two things:
- That amazing Indian Garden Cafe breakfast. 🤤
- The knowledge that AIO writing will replace SEO writing one day soon.
Case Study of AIO Content
We are going to make the entire Content at Scale blog a case study for AIO content.
Content at Scale will be our base for the “writer.”
Case Study #1: General “What is?” Piece
This “what is SEO” blog was generated by our AI, and then refined by me. All in all: 30 minutes from start to finish! Typical time by hand: 5 hours.
Case Study #2: Affiliate “How-to” Piece
This “how to care for a chicken blog” was generated by AI, and then heavily refined and edited by me. This is for an affiliate site I’m working on, using Content at Scale as the baseline ‘writer.’ As you can see, this one required more editing since we have affiliate links, product images, and such. All in all: 2 hours from start to finish! Typical time by hand: 9+ hours.

Introducing the AIO Hiring and Pricing Model for SEO Content at Scale
The Old Process to Develop Quality SEO Content with a Human Writer
- Human-only creation of a 2,500w SEO blog from start-to-finish
- Human editor edits to make sure it’s cohesive and good
- Content goes out
Cost? Anywhere from 05-30c/word, and you’ll need to give that writer a week to not get brain-dead in the process. Writing 2,500w from scratch is a tiresome feat. Add in a human editor, because that writer can or should rarely check their own work. Then, we can finally publish.
This process is completely archaic now.
The New Process to Develop Quality SEO Content with an AIO Writer
- An AI long-form writer replaces the human draft and writes the 2,500w SEO blog for you
- An AIO writer takes that and makes it better
- Content goes out
Total cost? 007c/word if you’re using a tool like Content at Scale, depending on what plan you choose. Then, hourly work for a trained AIO writer to bring the content up to the right level before you hit publish.
This can be done in under 5 hours total, and in one day. Why? Because the AI tool is doing a lot of the thinking and researching for us now. You can even use ChatGPT for free to help you with topic brainstorming if you’re stuck. There’s no barrier to content production anymore.
And with a tool like Content at Scale, you can actually trust the quality, because it’s built to crawl top ranking content and extract keywords and entities through NLP (natural language processing), and use semantic analysis to make accurate keyword recommendations and SEO content.
Why & How Writers Should Become AIO Writers
In the shift towards the huge opportunity of saving both time and money, we believe nearly every site owner that wants to publish content at scale will start to see AI production as the new baseline for their content.
Add a layer of good human optimization on top of that, and you have a model that saves serious time and cash.
Human-only content will become completely archaic and a way of the past.
What does this mean if you want to become an AIO writer?
- Start to learn how to use tools like Content at Scale.
- Consider learning everything you can about AI content production. Our YouTube channel and blogs are good places to start.
- Test the tool to produce content yourself, and lean into the strategy side. Write better prompts. Get better at keyword research
- Start adapting, now. It’s time to adapt or die.

A 5-Step “Make it Better” Process for AIO Writers
Writing SEO content for your boss or client and thinking to move to AIO?
Here’s my C.R.A.F.T framework to make sure your content is impeccably good, even if the baseline was created by a robot. 😉
Edit using Julia’s AIO C.R.A.F.T. Framework
1. Cut the fluff
2. Review, edit, optimize
3. Add images, visuals, media
5. Trust-build with personal story, tone, links
SEO writers should all consider moving into AIO writing.
Why? You’ll speed up your process by 3x. And your boss or client will save 1/3rd the cost, if you apply our new model. Yet you still make the same, or even more. The model accounts for $40/hour, which can actually be more than what many SEO writers get paid. We have AIO writers writing 10 posts a day, here at Content at Scale. 🤯
That’s a serious win. If you were living in the fictional days of being able to snag a Willy Wonka golden ticket, that’s the level of win this is.
AIO Content Will Be the New Frontier for SEO Content Production at Scale
Despite what you might see in the comments on Jasper ads, or from novices using ChatGPT, business leaders are adapting at a fast rate to the use of AIO.
Content isn’t the only thing they’re optimizing—they’re improving processes, writing SOPs faster, creating personalized shopping experiences for buyers, and much, much more.

- 84% of business leaders believe AI will enable them to create a competitive advantage
- 83% believe in AI being a strategic priority for what they do
